The new John Deere 900 KH-Series Tracked Harvesters offer extra power and productivity to take on the toughest trees, with dual power options at 300 hp or the industry-first 330 hp.
The 900s feature a larger displacement Tier 3 PowerTech Plus™ 9.0L engine that delivers the power needed to move, swing and harvest faster due to dual swing motors for high torque and a power management system that makes sure no power is wasted.
"What we've heard in the woods is that our 903KH and 909KH Harvesters get more done and cover more ground so operators can take on more of the forest," said Elliott Little, Product Marketing Manager, Tracked Harvesters and Tracked Feller Bunchers. "These machines are packed with customer-driven features and are sure to provide superior uptime and productivity while lowering daily operating costs."
The KH-Series boasts the lowest daily fuel cost in the industry, a 295-gallon fuel tank that lets you get more done between fill-ups, a fully integrated measuring system that has been factory installed and fully documented for optimized performance and quick, consistent troubleshooting, a protected undercarriage with double flange rollers for maximum durability, and a best-in-class leveling system to keep the upper frame level, even when the tracks are climbing or tilting on tough slopes.
Cab Overhaul
Cab enhancements include better visibility, a powerful HVAC system, brighter cab interior lighting, a factory-mounted keyboard and mouse, measuring system power switch and USB port all within the operator's reach, more in-cab storage behind the operator seat and more power ports and cup holders. A sealed switch module features keyless start, auto-idle, hydraulic enable, and engine throttle.
To aid visibility from all angles, the exterior lighting has been improved and features enhanced adjustability for both work and drive line of site, and the front window bars have been repositioned so they are now vertical.

Gold Award For New West Country Museum |
|

|
Oakham Treasures, at Oakham Farm Portbury Lane, Bristol, is not a soley dedicated stationary engine museum, but engines are a significant part of thier displays.
The museum has just won a prestigious regional tourism award in the small visitor attraction category celebrating 'the best in South West'. The judges praised the "unique and beautifully presented museum".
Its many other diverse attractions, mostly from the 1930s and 1940s household and retail, very imaginatively displayed, plus tractors and other farm equipment, which make an ideal visit for the engine enthusiast to include the family. The older generation of grandparents (many of them are so young these days) will find it very nostalgic and will be able to connect with many of the objects from the 1940s.
The judges also commented that, "The staff and owner were fantastic and showed great personality, they really do go the extra mile". |

John Deere dealership JE Buckle Engineers celebrated its 40th anniversary this April, with a series of open days at the end of March at its new Bedfordshire premises in New Road, Maulden.
The family-owned business was founded in 1970 by Jim Buckle and his wife Ann, and has grown from one man and a service van to become one of John Deere’s top dealers in the UK and Ireland, with a turnover of just under £10 million last year. The dealership employs 32 staff, with 13 at Maulden and 19 at Cromer in Hertfordshire.
Buckles originally took on the John Deere agricultural equipment franchise at Cromer in 1988. The dealership opened its second branch at Millbrook in Bedfordshire in 2000, starting with just three staff there before transferring to Maulden in December 2009.

John Deere Secures Tractors |
|
Tuesday, 13 April 2010 09:55 |
|
John Deere is the latest manufacturer to fit the official CESAR Scheme Datatag security system as standard. From the end of this year all Mannheim-built John Deere tractors including all 5M and 5R Series, 6030 Standard and Premium Series, 7430 and 7530 models will be fitted with the system. John Deere dealers will also be trained to install Datatag on other product lines in due course, where it is not available ex-factory.
On installation of the Datatag system, tamperproof CESAR registration plates are prominent fitted to the tractor to deter theft or vandalism, along with additional ID technology, including miniature transponders, Datadots and a unique forensic DNA solution. John Deere dealers will keep individual records of Datatagged machines, and details of any stolen CESAR-registered machines can be circulated by Datatag worldwide to 187 countries via Europol and Interpol from its secure 24/7 accredited database and call centre, which is supported by the Home Office and police.
Datatag ID Limited, which operates the CESAR (Construction & Agricultural Equipment Security and Registration) scheme, offers security identity systems for a range of manufacturing sectors, including ATVs, motorcycles and scooters, horseboxes and trailers, and construction and plant equipment.

Speedy Bobcat Under Control |
|
Thursday, 01 April 2010 10:12 |
|
Using the new Selectable Joystick Control (SJC) option, the Bobcat T110 skid steer loader has a top speed of 13.5 kph, which the company says, makes it the fastest compact tracked loader in its class.
The new top speed is part of a two-speed option offered by the SJC system, allowing for faster cycle times between dig and dump sites as well as speedier transit from one jobsite to another. In addition, a speed management system (SMS) allows the operator to match travel speed to job requirements in order to optimise attachment performance and provide more precise control of machine movements in tight areas. The SMS can be used to pre-set the speed desired when working with specific attachments such as tillers and trenchers.
Operators now get a choice between hand-operated or foot-operated control of the engine speed. To suit different needs and preferences, there are also three settings which change how responsive the loader’s drive and steering systems are when the operator moves the joysticks. The SJC system also gives a choice between ‘ISO’ and conventional ‘H’ skid-steer hand control patterns on the same joysticks, simply by pushing a rocker switch in the cab.
