Kubota has added the new 24hp B2420 to the recently-launched B20 Series sub-compact range. A compact and slimline design – measuring just one metre wide – makes the B2420 suitable for work in confined spaces. It is aimed at a wide variety of customers, including smallholders, horticulturists and groundscare professionals.
The B2420 features Kubota's 24hp three cylinder E-TVCS (three vortex combustion system) diesel engine. With four wheel drive, a maximum speed of 19.4 kph and nine forward and three reverse gears, the operator can match the power and speed to tackle the task in hand. Power steering makes for easier driving, whilst the ergonomic design and simple lay out offer improved visibility and comfort, minimising operator fatigue. The B2420 incorporates a suspension seat, an easy-to-read backlit instrument panel and a full flat operator deck for ease of access, as well as a parking brake and large, angled, colour-coded levers. Lift capacity of 615 kg and a two-speed pto enables the use of a wide variety of implements.

Five of JCB’s largest wheeled loading shovel models – the 456eZX Wastemaster – are now performing green and domestic waste handling duties across Greater Manchester after being purchased in one of the highest value waste equipment deals in Europe. The order – which includes a long term repair and maintenance contract with JCB dealer Gunn JCB - was placed by Viridor Waste (Greater Manchester) Ltd and the five machines are now in action at sites at Sharston, Salford, Rochdale, Stockport and Oldham.
Viridor operates the sites under contract from Viridor Laing (Greater Manchester) ltd (VLGM) after the signing of a 25 year Private Finance Initiative earlier this year with the Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority (GMWDA).
The JCB models are used to load green waste into shredders and for stockpiling general household waste at the Transfer Stations across the region. The machines have been tailored to the exact requirements of Viridor with specialist waste and recycling specifications including: air-conditioning; belly, brake-pipe and cab-screen guards; a carbon air filter; a smart reverse alarm and a wide core radiator.

This Year's Drive Green Events Feature Chip Foose-Customized John Deere 4020
Building on the success of last year's Drive Green Utility Tractor program, John Deere announces it is holding Drive Green Tractor Experience events at more than 50 locations across the southern and eastern United States for 2010. The dealer-sponsored events, which kick off in Texas, are designed to give rural property owners, agricultural producers and other interested consumers a chance to operate and ask questions about the latest models of utility tractors and other equipment available from John Deere.
Like last year, a uniquely detailed semi-tractor and trailer that will transport several utility tractors and other equipment to each of the major Drive Green Tractor Experience events. In addition, the legendary designer Chip Foose has customized a 1970 John Deere 4020 Tractor, which also will be featured at many of the events scheduled after early March.

At all the Experience events, John Deere tractor specialists will be on hand to demonstrate the equipment and answer questions.
According to Steve Geick, tactical marketing manager with John Deere, last year's Drive Green events gave thousands of people a chance to see, ask questions and ride-and-drive the equipment.

John Deere 8320R Tractor Sets Fuel Efficiency Records at Nebraska Test |
|
Tuesday, 23 March 2010 09:13 |
|
John Deere announces results of recently completed Nebraska Tractor Test Lab (NTTL) evaluations of its 8320R Tractor. The tests, which were conducted in October 2009, show the 320 rated engine horsepower John Deere 8320R provides greater fuel efficiency and higher PTO and drawbar horsepower ratings when compared to similar sized competitive tractor models.
Introduced in 2009 as a replacement line to the widely used 8030 Series Tractors, the John Deere 8R Series Tractors feature the same fuel efficient 9.0L PowerTech Plus engine, but with a larger, more comfortable cab. Over the last several years, the 8430 tractor had set the standard in NTTL tests for fuel efficiency for tractors in its class.
The NTTL is the only official OECD test station in North America and provides credible confirmation of advertised performance specifications for many makes and models of tractors tested. In the 2009 NTTL tests, the John Deere 8320R set records for fuel efficiency for a row-crop tractor in the following categories:
- The 8320R delivered 18.93 hp-hr/gal while producing 274.37 PTO hp in the rated engine speed PTO test.
- The 8320R delivered 17.84 hp-hr/gal while producing 186.66 drawbar horsepower in the 75 percent of maximum power at reduced engine speed drawbar test, a test that closely represents typical field work.
